St. Louis Cemetery #1, New Orleans

Understandably, the dead are buried above ground in New Orleans because the water table is so high.
Since I love to visit graveyards, it was nice to visit a town that values theirs, and provides tours of them. Our guide was very informative, and I have to say, I learned more than I would have by just skimming the guidebook. Marie Laveau, the "voodoo queen" is buried here- her grave has all of the offerings in front of it. Our guide, with the yellow in front of a monument featured in the film "Easy Rider". The tombs used to be washed in color, as you can see.....
